| Sarah McCullough paid taxes in Clarke County, in 1833, and in Morgan County, in 1838. Alvis Harper was agent for Sarah in the Morgan County, 1844 tax digest, and Alvis Harper was agent for the legatees of Sarah McCullough in the Morgan County, 1845 tax digest. On 1 February 1841, Sarah McCullough, Alvis Harper, Elizabeth McCullough, Thomas McCullough, and James McCullough, all of Morgan County, sold their land in Clarke County, to Samuel H. and Richard M. Thompson.30 They then bought land on the Morgan County side of Apalachee River which they sold, 3 November 1849. Alvis Harper and Elizabeth, Thomas, and James McCullough of Morgan County, sold to Thomas Head and Augustus Sidney Few, 220 acres in Morgan County on Apalachee River, adjoining John Floyd, Robert Harris, Thomas Head, and John Stovall.31

| Richard Downs, born 3 May 1800, Halifax County, North Carolina, died 1865, DeWitt County, Texas, buried Fiddler’s Bend Cemetery. He married 25 October 1824, Morgan County, Georgia, to Elizabeth Young,33 born circa 1805, died 1860, daughter of Moses Young. Richard lived in Lumpkins’s District in Clarke County, Georgia, in 1827. He lived in Capt. Wood’s 399th District in Morgan County, in 183034 and 1840.35

| On 27 December 1835 in Morgan County, John W. Butler of Chambers County, Alabama, sold to Richard Downs of Morgan County, Georgia, in trust for Margaret Young, minor orphan daughter of Moses Young, late of Morgan County, decd., 25 acres out of the 50 acres where the widow Young now lives. To be given to Margaret Young when she is twenty years old, adjoining land of John Stovall and Chivers Brooks, in the 5th District of Morgan County, on Sandy Creek waters.36
