    Richard Downs was elected Coroner of Morgan County, in 1843.37 He lived in Morgan County, in 1850.38 He moved to Gonzales County, Texas, in 1855. Richard and his son, Riley Downs, lived in DeWitt County, Texas, in 1860, with George W. Davis.39 Richard had six children. Four of his children married in Morgan County, Georgia.40
7. ii. William Wood Downs, born 12 August 1802, Halifax County, North Carolina, died 22 September 1882, Waco, McLennan County, Texas. He married 10 August 1823, Salem, Clarke County, Georgia, to Henrietta Sparks,41 born 20 July 1808, Morgan County, Georgia, died 27 April 1886, Waco, Texas. William and Henrietta are buried in Rosewood Cemetery, Waco, Texas. William was a Methodist minister. They moved from Morgan County, to Gwinnett County, Georgia, in 1824. William is included in the 1830 census of Gwinnett County.42 They lived in Franklin County, Alabama, in 1850,43 and moved to Waco, Texas, in 1854.
