    On 10 November 1809 in Morgan County, Alexander Elliott sold David Downs, both of Morgan County, for $100, 40 acres square in the northwest corner of Lot 184 in the 5th District of Morgan County.56 On 2 May 1817 in Morgan County, Alexander Elliott sold David Downs, for $200, 50 acres on Sandy Creek in Lot 184, 5th District.57
    David Downs’s only other appearance in the court records of Morgan County, was 2 March 1811, as a petit juror.58 David Downs drew Lot 179 in the 15th District of Early County, in the 1820 Land Lottery. He lived in Morgan County, Wright’s District when he drew this land.59
    There is no recorded deed for the sale of David Downs’s land in Morgan County; he vanished from the records after 1824. David and his father, William Downs, were not included in the 1820 Georgia census. As shown above, William Downs drew land in the Georgia Land Lottery from Foster’s District in Clarke County, in 1821, and David Downs paid taxes in Morgan County, in 1820 in Wright’s District.

Sarah E. “Sally” Downs, born circa 1802, Halifax County, North Carolina, died after 1870, Tallapoosa County, Alabama, married 30 March 1823, Morgan County, Georgia, to Sion Wheelus,60 born circa 1789, died after the 1870 census of Tallapoosa County.61 Sion Wheelus lived in Morgan County, Georgia, in 1811.62 They lived in Morgan County, in 1830;63 in Meriwether County, Georgia, in 184064 and 1850;65 and in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, in 1860.66
