He married 3 December 1842, Nacogdoches County, to Rebecca Jane Bruce Hunter, born 18 November 1824, North Carolina, died 7 March 1898, Chireno, Nacogdoches County. She was the daughter of Samuel Hunter and Rebecca Jane Bruce. Blackstone and Rebecca Hardeman are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.

| | Blackstone owned a general merchandise store in Melrose, Texas. He served in the Texas legislature in 1861. During the Civil War he was a major in the Quartermaster’s Corp. in Colonel Randall’s Brigade.
