    260. Mary Hardin5Hardeman (Constantine Hardin4, Constantine3, Thomas2, John1), was born 20 October 1846, Weakley County, Tennessee, died 9 July 1907, Winona, Montgomery County, Mississippi. She married 3 June 1868, Carroll County, Mississippi, to Dr. Benjamin F. Ward, born 25 February 1835, Abbeville County, South Carolina, died 26 August 1920, Winona, Mississippi. Benjamin F. and Mary Ward are buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona, Mississippi.1768
    Benjamin was the son of William F. Ward, died before 1846, and Martha Mecklin. Mrs. Martha Ward moved to Choctaw County, Mississippi, in 1846.
    Mary H. Hardeman was reared by her Uncle Thomas Hardeman after her parents died. She lived with Thomas Hardeman in Carroll County, Mississippi, in 1860.1769
    Benjamin F. Ward taught school in Carroll County, Mississippi, and began studying medicine privately. He attended the University of Louisiana (now Tulane University) and completed his medical training at the Atlanta Medical College, graduating in 1859. He returned to Carroll County and established a medical practice. In 1861, Dr. Ward enlisted as a private in the Carroll Rifles, and a year later was appointed a field surgeon. He was later appointed as a senior surgeon on the staff of General Joseph R. Davis. After the war, Dr. Ward settled in Winona, Montgomery County, Mississippi, where he continued to practice medicine.1770
    Dr. Ward was president of the Mississippi State Medical Association, 1881-1882, and a member of the Mississippi State Board of Health for six years, beginning in 1886. He was president of the Mississippi State Board of Health from 1903 to 1905, a member of the American Medical
