    6. Jane2Hardeman (John1), was born circa 1760, Halifax County, Virginia,243 died after the 1800 census of Oglethorpe County, Georgia, and before 1803 in Oglethorpe County.244 She married circa 1778, Guilford County, North Carolina, to Richard Rafferty, whose will was made 8 September 1796, recorded 5 April 1797, Oglethorpe County, Georgia.
    Richard and Jane Rafferty moved from Guilford County, North Carolina, to Wilkes County, Georgia, in 1784. Richard Rafferty paid taxes in Wilkes County, in 1787, in Captain John Holmes’s District. He owned no land and lived adjoining Glen Owen. The tax lists for 1788-1790 for the district where he lived aren’t extant. In 1791, Richard Raffety paid taxes in Wilkes County, in Captain William Duke’s Company, on 150 acres; he owned no slaves. In 1792, Richard Raffety paid taxes in Captain William Duke’s Company, on one slave and 88 acres on Dry Fork of Long Creek, adjoining Glen Owen. In 1793, Richard Raffity paid taxes in Captain William Duke’s Company, on two slaves and 88 acres on Dry Fork Creek, adjoining Glen Owen and William Johnson. In 1793, Richard Rafferty’s land was put into Oglethorpe County. Richard Rafferty lived in the same neighborhood with his brothers-in-law, Glen Owen, John Hardeman, and William Strong.245
    On 26 November 1791, Richard Raffity and Jane Raffity of Wilkes County, Georgia, being legatees of part of the estate of John Hardiman, formerly of Guilford County, North Carolina, deceased, sold to John Hardiman of Wilkes County, Georgia, all our rights, titles, claims, and demands as legatees or any other claim against said estate and have received full satisfaction for same. /s/ Rich.
