John Blackstone Strong, born 21 March 1792, Wilkes County, Georgia, died 5 February 1835, Troup County, Georgia, married 18 September 1816, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to Mary “Polly” Wilkes,336 born circa 1799, Georgia, died after 1850, Heard County, Georgia. Mary “Polly” Wilkes was the daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Wilkes.337 John B. Strong moved from Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to Troup County, Georgia, in 1828.338
    Mrs. Mary Strong married second, 8 December 1839, Troup County, Georgia, to Leroy Brown, born circa 1795, South Carolina. Leroy and Mary Brown lived in Heard County, Georgia, in 1850.339
    John B. Strong served in the War of 1812. He enlisted in Oglethorpe County, 16 September 1812: John B. Strong, age 20, 5’ 6 1/2”, blue eyes, light hair and complection.340
    4 September 1815, Robert Freeman sold to John B. Strong, both of Oglethorpe County, for $81, 28 acres on Long Creek waters, adjoining the road from Lexington to Augusta, Alexander Leggett, Benjamin Wilkes, deceased, and others. Witnesses: Wm. Strong, Robert H. Strong, Abner Ponder, J.P.341
    10 November 1824, John B. Strong sold to John Hardeman, both of Oglethorpe County, for $300, 28 acres on Long Creek on road from Lexington to Augusta that John B. Strong bought from Robert Freeman. And, 93 ½ acres, adjoining the 28 acres, is the lot allotted to John B. Strong’s wife under a Writ of Partition to divide the real estate of Benjn. Wilks, deceased. John B. Strong’s wife was an heir. Witnesses: Isaac Hardeman, Elijah Deupree, James S. Palmer.342
