    William Wilkes served in the War of 1812. He enlisted, 16 September 1812, in Oglethorpe County: William Wilkes, age 18, 5’ 8”, black eyes, yellow hair.354
    On 19 November 1825 in Oglethorpe County, William Wilkes sold to Jesse Kent, both of Oglethorpe County, for $400, 100 acres on Long Creek.355
