| Constant Hardeman moved with his parents, Thomas and Mary Hardin Perkins Hardeman, from Guilford County, North Carolina, to Washington County, North Carolina (now Tennessee), as an infant. In 1786, when he was eight years old, the family moved from Washington County, to Davidson County, Tennessee. In 1796, Constant Hardeman went on an extended visit to Henry County, Virginia. Constant’s father, Thomas Hardeman, was in Henry County, Virginia, from 1798 to 1800. Constant Hardeman’s mother, Mary Hardin Perkins Hardeman, died 24 May 1798 in Davidson County, Tennessee. Constant Hardeman married, 31 July 1799, in Henry County, Virginia, to Sarah J. “Sally” Marr, his first cousin. Sally’s mother, Susannah Perkins Pryor Marr was a sister of Constant’s mother, Mary Hardin Perkins Hardeman. On 13 October 1799 in Henry County, Virginia, Constant’s father, Thomas Hardeman, married Susannah Perkins Pryor Marr. So, Constant Hardeman’s Aunt Susannah became his mother-in-law and step-mother. In 1800, Thomas Hardeman and Constant Hardeman returned to Davidson County, Tennessee, from Henry County, Virginia, with their wives. Susannah Marr’s other children George Washington Lent Marr, John Marr, William Miller Marr, Constant Hardin Perkins Marr, Peter Nicholas Marr, and Agatha Ann Marr came with them.

| | On 25 February 1796 in Henry County, Virginia, Constant Hardeman witnessed a deed from William Bailes (Bayles), Jr., Elijah Bailes, Jesse Bailes, Bailey Bailes, Nancy Bailes, Andrew Moor and Peggy, his wife, Bennett Harris and Franky, his wife, Barna Wells and Sarah, his wife, to George Hairston, all of Henry County, for £70, sold all plantation on both sides of Turkey Cock Creek, 375 acres, adjoining William Bailes, Senr. and Smith.454
