| John Mapp’s obituary was published in the Christian Advocate & Journal, Greene County, Georgia, 8 April 1828. Capt. John Mapp was born in Virginia about 1759. From thence his father, Littleton Mapp, moved to South Carolina at about the beginning of the Revolutionary War. John was active in the defense of his country. He married the daughter of Col. White and in 1792 moved to Georgia. In 1794 they united with the Methodist Episcopal Church where he was a member until death on Sunday 23 March. He verbally made a disposition of his property. He was buried in his own garden. 24 March. (signed) R. Smith.38

| | Mary Mapp made her will 25 May 1846 in Greene County, Georgia. The will gave Nancy Chapman 1/3 of tract where I now live and negroes Harry, wife Diana, Sarah, and Richard, and at her death to her children. To son of Nancy Chapman, L. Q. C. Chapman, a negro George. To Mary Ward, sister Nancy James of Tennessee, and Elizabeth Alcoln. John Chapman $250 and 1/3 of tract where I now live, the lower tract, adjoining Akins and King. To Thomas Chapman negro and furniture. To Washington and Henry Chapman, two young sons of Randall Chapman, decd. each $100. Residue if any to be equally divided to children of Charles James, decd. and children of John White, decd. Executors: E. J. Mapp and John Bonner.39 The relationship of the Chapmans to Mary Mapp isn’t known.

| | John Mapp is found in the 1820 census of Greene County, Georgia.40 Mary Mapp is found in the 1830 and 1840 censuses of Greene County.41 Mary Mapp bought and sold numerous pieces of property from 1828 to 1845. Several of the deeds were to Burwell Mapp. She also sold land to Zebulon and Zacheus Wright, and Chapman and Bruce. Mary Mapp was a member of the White Plains Methodist Church in Greene County.42
