    193. Thomas Daniel5Meadows (Simeon Whatley4, Daniel3, Isham2, Daniel1), was born 7 June 1830, Troup County, Georgia, died 1 July 1910,554 aged 80, intestate, Lisbon, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. He married 31 August 1851, Heard County, Georgia, to Mary Ann Hilley, born 27 November 1834, Elbert County, Georgia, died 2 June 1917, aged 82, Hot Springs, Arkansas,555 at the home of her son, Asbury Meadows. Thomas and Mary Ann Meadows are buried in Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon, Louisiana.556
    The Succession of Thomas D. Meadows was filed 15 February 1911, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. Mrs. Mary A. Meadows, a resident of Claiborne Parish, made petition. Her husband, Thomas D. Meadows, late resident of Claiborne Parish died intestate, leaving your petitioner widow and the following children issue of his marriage with petitioner: J. D. Meadows; Mrs. J. T. Nelson, wife of J. T. Nelson; Ira E. Meadows; Lon Meadows; Viola DeLoach, wife of W. M. DeLoach; Mat Meadows; Mrs. Lizzie Templeton, wife of J. D. Templeton; Joe S. Meadows, now deceased leaving two minor children, Joe F. Meadows and Mary Bell Meadows; Asberry Meadows; Mrs. Beulah E. Cook, now deceased, leaving the following minor children issue of her marriage with J. D. Cook, Eloyd Cook, Bernice Cook, Ellis Cook, Tom Cook, and Grady Cook.
    Thomas’s gravestone states that he was a corporal in Company H, Regiment Lousiana Infantry, C.S.A. He served in the Louisiana 17th Infantry, Claiborne Parish, Guards. He was paroled 4 July 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi, and discharged at Camp Moore because of sickness. He was an old line Whig, was on the police board, was president for several years, a Master Mason, and member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Antioch, Louisiana.

    554 Feland Meadows to the author, 1975. Feland thought his grandfather, Thomas Daniel Meadows, died of gastric cancer. He suffered for some years with symtoms that corresponded to chronic ulcer or cancer.
