    Mary Ann Hilley was the daughter of Thomas Hilley,557 born 26 June 1797, Elbert County, Georgia, died 20 September 1872, Lisbon, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana,558 and Clara Graves Higginbotham, born 4 February 1805, Elbert County, died 5 March 1882,559 Claiborne Parish.560 Thomas Hilley lived in Heard County, Georgia, in 1850.561 He and his family moved to Claiborne Parish, in 1854, with Thomas and Mary Ann Meadows.562 Mary Ann’s grandfather was Thomas Hilly, a Revolutionary soldier, born 26 April 1754, Virginia, died 22 March 1838, Heard County, Georgia. He moved from Virginia to Elbert County, Georgia, about 1797, and to Heard County, 1 Jan. 1838, with his son Thomas.563

    558 Thomas Hilley married 13 May 1828, Elbert Co., Ga., Clara G. Higginbotham. Thomas Hilley was the son of Thomas Hilley, b. 26 April 1754, Va., d. 22 March 1838, Heard Co., Ga. and Mary Walker Bond, d. before 1824, Elbert Co., Ga., dau. of Nathan Bond and Elizabeth. Thomas Hilley lived in Elbert Co., Ga., in 1820. Their other proven child was Lucy Hilley, b. 4 June 1795, Elbert Co., Ga., d. 25 Nov. 1869, buried Lisbon Cemetery, Claiborne Parish, La. Lucy was deaf and never married. She lived with her brother, Thomas Hilley, when the 1850 census was taken in Heard Co., Ga. Her gravestone in Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon, La.: Lucy Hilley, b. Elbert Co., Ga., 4 June 1795–25 Nov. 1869.
