    In 1801, Isham Medows, Sr. paid taxes in Wilkes County, in Capt. John Bethune’s District RR, with no land. His sons, John, Isham, Jr., James, William, and Daniel Meadows lived nearby.49 Daniel Meadows reached the age of 21 in 1801 and came of age to pay taxes.
    In 1802, Isham Meadows, Sr. paid taxes in Wilkes County, in Capt. Stephen Gatlin’s District RR, on 125 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining Ewing Morrow, granted to John Cargile. His sons, John, Isham, Jr., James, and Daniel Meadows lived nearby.50
    The Stephens Creek neighborhood of Wilkes County, Georgia, was cut off into Greene County, in 1802. The Meadows lived in Greene County, after 1802. Isham Meadows, Sr. registered for the 1805 Land Lottery in Greene County, as did his sons, John, Isham, Jr., James, William, and Daniel Meadows.51 (The Stephens Creek neighborhood was cut off from Greene County, and became Taliaferro County, in 1825).
    In 1809, Isham Meadors, Sr. paid taxes in Greene County, Georgia, in Moore’s District, on 125 acres on Stephens Creek, adjoining Stephens, granted to Thompson. Isham’s sons, Isham, Jr., Daniel, and Edward Meadows also paid taxes in Moore’s District in 1809, as did his grandsons, Benjamin and Ransom Meadows (sons of Isham Meadows).
    There are no recorded deeds in Wilkes County or Greene County, for Isham Meadows, Sr. He didn’t witness any deeds or appear in court records. The only records for him in Wilkes and Greene Counties were tax records. His son, Isham Meadows, witnessed deeds in Wilkes County. His son, Daniel Meadows, witnessed deeds in Greene County.
    Isham Meadows moved from Greene County, Georgia, to Jones County, Georgia, in 1810, with his grandson, Benjamin Meadows (son of Isham). Benjamin Meadors paid taxes in Jones County, Georgia, in 1811, on 202 ½ acres on Falling Creek, adjoining Downs, for Isham Meadows.
