    197. Simeon Joseph5Meadows (Simeon Whatley4, Daniel3, Isham2, Daniel1), was born 8 February 1840, Troup County, Georgia, on Yellow Jacket Creek, died 3 January 1920, aged 79, Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Lousiana. He married 21 May 1861, four days after graduating from high school, in the home of Edmund Daniel in Heard County, Georgia, to Temperence Penina “Tempe” Daniel,609 born 20 December 1842, died 12 March 1914, aged 71, Haynesville, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.610 Simeon and Tempe Meadows are buried in Old Friendship Cemetery, Haynesville, Claiborne Parish. Tempe had a fair complexion, blue eyes, not tall, and was plump.
    Temperence P. Daniel was the daughter of Edmund Daniel, born 3 November 1800, Greene County, Georgia, died 25 May 1879, Heard County, Georgia,611 and Julia Ann Welborne, born 24 November 1808, died 3 March 1886, Heard County.612

This is to certify that Simeon Joseph Meadows and Temperence Penina Daniel were united in Holy Matrimony at the bride’s home on the 21 day of May in the year of our Lord 1861 in the presence of many witnesses by Judge J. B. Ware of Heard Co., Ga. Simeon Joseph Meadows was born Troup Co., Ga. Feb 8, 1840. Temperence P. Daniel was born Dec. 20, 1842. Temperence Penina Daniel Meadows, wife of S. J. Meadows, died at her home near Haynesville, La. of bronchial pneumonia, aged 71 years, 2 months, 22 days. A lovable woman she truly was. S.J.M. March 12, 1914. Simeon Joseph Meadows, husband of Temperence Daniel Meadows, died at the home of his daus., Mary and Addie, in Shreveport, La. of arteriosclerosis. Age 79 years, 10 months, 25 days. An upright man who was outstanding as a teacher and a religious leader all his life, Jan. 3, 1920.
    611 Edmund Daniel was the son of William Henning Daniel, b. 1775, d. 1817, m. 1799, Greene Co., Ga., Hannah Asbury, dau. of Richard and Elizabeth Asbury. Hannah Daniel, widow, received one draw in the 1832 Ga. Gold Land Lottery. Hannah Daniel was counted in the 1827 State Census in Taliaferro Co., Ga., G.M.D. 606: males – 1 under 18; 1 18/45; females – 3 under 18; 1 18/45, 13 slaves. Hannah Daniel and her father, Richard Asbury, were counted in the 1820 census in Greene Co., Ga.
    612 Edmund Daniel m. Julia A. Welborne, 2 Jan. 1825. Julia was the dau. of Jeremiah Welborne. Jeremiah Welborne was counted in the 1820 census in Wilkes Co., Ga. and the 1827 State Census in Taliaferro Co., Ga. Jeremiah Willbourne made his will 22 Dec. 1828, proved 2 Nov. 1829, Taliaferro Co., Ga. The will named his wife, Mary, and children: James Willbourne, Thomas Willbourne, George Willbourne, Eliza Lawson, and Juliann Daniel. Exors: A. B. Linton, Simon Morris, Jr. Test: R. A. Steele, Geo.
