| 17. Isham3Meadows (Isham2, Daniel1), was born circa 1765, Bute County, North Carolina, died 16 December 1844, testate, about aged 79, in Lowndes County, Alabama. He married first, circa 1784, Warren County, North Carolina, to Frances Acree, daughter of William Acree.63 He married second, Martha64 ——.65

| | Isham Meadows moved from Warren County, North Carolina, to Wilkes County, Georgia, in 1790, with the William Acree family. Isham Meadows paid taxes in Wilkes County, in 1790 and 1791, in Capt. Archibald Grisham’s District GG; he owned no land.66 Taxpayers in this district reported land on Sherrill’s Creek and Little River.

| | Isham Meadows witnessed a deed in Wilkes County, Georgia, 28 February 1791: Joseph Spradling of Greene County, Georgia, and James Davidson of Wilkes County, Georgia, sold to Jesse Boles of Wilkes County, for £50, 100 acres on Whites Creek, adjoining north by Hugh Jones, east by James Morrow, south by Richd. Hill, west by unknown, granted to Spradling, 8 April 1789. Witnesses: Wm. Watson, Isham Meddows. Proved by Wm. Watson and Isham Meddows, 13 October 1791. Registered 5 September 1792.67

| | 65 It has been stated several places in print and on the Internet that she was Martha Stephens Norsworthy. No proof has been given. Isham’s grandson, Isham Meadows, married in 1837 in Chambers Co., Ala., to Martha Stevens. This could be the mistaken source.
