    220. Laura S.5Meadows (Samuel4, Daniel3, Isham2, Daniel1), was born 18 August 1853, Coweta County, Georgia, died 23 December 1905,800 aged 52, Coweta County. She married 2 January 1883, Coweta County, William R. Evans,801 born 19 August 1850, died 7 October 1911,802 aged 61, Coweta County, after being hit by a train.803 They are buried in the Samuel Meadows Cemetery, Grantville. William Evans lived four miles west of Moreland, Georgia.
    William R. Evans married first to Samantha Texas Meadows, Laura’s sister. Samantha’s sons, who were Laura’s nephews, also became her step–children. William R. Evans married third, 12 May 1907, Coweta County, to Mrs. Rebecca O’Neal. William R. Evans lived in Coweta County, in 1910.804

    803 Newman Times, (Newnan, Coweta Co., Ga.), 13 Oct. 1911. A tragic accident occurred at the railroad crossing in Moreland on Friday evening last about 7 o’clock. Mr. W. R. Evans, a farmer residing four miles west of Moreland was attempting to cross the track with a load of cotton when his wagon was struck by the southbound vestibule from Atlanta. Mr. Evans and two mules hitched to the wagon were hurled a distance of 74’. Although horribly crushed, Mr. Evans lingered until 10 o’clock Saturday morning, when death relieved him of his suffering. Deceased was a clever man and a good citizen and his tragic death is sincerely mourned by his friends throughout the county. He was about 65 years of age and is survived by his wife and eight children. The funeral took place Sunday morning, after which the remains were interred in the Meadows burying ground near St. Charles.
