    3. John2Meadows (Daniel1), married Hannah ——. The will of John Meadows was made 10 November 1773 in Bute County, North Carolina, weak in body. To wife, Hannah Meadows, all residue of my estate for the raising of my children during her natural life or widowhood. At her death to be equally divided among my children or the survivors of them. My loving wife and friend, Samuel Thompson, should be whole executors. Witnesses: Matthew Howard, Isham (x) Meadows. (signed) John (mark) Meadows.
    The will of John Meadows was presented to the Bute County Court, 9 August 1774, and proved by Isham Meadows one of the witnesses. Letters Testimentary were granted to Hannah Meadows his relict and one of the executors who was qualified.28
    John Medors lived with Wm. Byrd (master) and Wm. Byrd (white) in Babtist District when the 1762 tax list was taken in Granville County.
    In October of 1767, in Bute County, North Carolina, John Meadows was to open and maintain the road under Joseph Shearing, overseer on Eaton’s Road between Jumping Gut and Hub Quarter Bridge and intersecting the main country road to Halifax.29
