| pages 56-58 Deed of Gift: Morgan Co., Ga.: 4 Dec. 1820, Lewis Gaar of afsd. co., to Catherine Gaar the wife & Peggy Head the daughter & lawful child of Lewis, Lucy Gaar, Lewis G. Head, Sally Burton MacCalpin, Caty Weaver Head, James Head, Marshall Head, Baldwin Buckner Head, Wiley Morgan Head, & Patsey Virginia Head, the grandchildren of Lewis Gaar & the children & heirs of Peggy Head lawfully begotten of her body by Benjamin Head, late the husband of Peggy, all of afsd. co., & Benjamin Head, the grandchild of Lewis Gaar & lawful child of Peggy of the county & state of Mississippi, for natural affection & $10, give all tract where Lewis now lives, being 2 districts but adj. tracts, Lot 207 in 5th Dist. of formerly Baldwin now Morgan Co., 202 1/2 acres, is whole tract purchased by Lewis Gaar from Andrew Nutt. Other is part of Lot 182, 73 acres & the whole of tract purchased by Lewis Gaar from Frederick Young.

| | Also, 5 negro slaves: Andrew, Sarah, Jack, George, & Rhoda with future increase of the females. Also, 2 feather beds & furniture, all stock of cattle, horses, sheep, & hogs, plantation utensils & property of every kind. Lewis Gaar limits deed to take effect at his death. Lewis Gaar reserves to himself during his natural life the entire use & control of all property. Lewis & his wife Catharine during her natural life or widowhood have all square Lot 207 purchased by Lewis Gaar from Andrew Nutt & then to go to Peggy & her heirs. Catharine Gaar shall not employ either in cutting or cultivating the land or permit any other person to do so. Catharine Gaar have full moiety (at valuation by two freeholders appointed by Catharine Gaar & the other by Peggy Head) of 4 of the negro slaves, Andrew, Sarah, Jack, & George subject to reservation that Lewis Gaar at any time during his natural life shall have power to revoke gift of moiety of slaves to his wife Catharine after her death & vest the fee simple title in any other person so that person shall be one of his lineal descendants. Also, Catharine have a feather bed & furniture, 2 horses, 1 set of plantation tools for 2 hands, a full moiety of all the household & kitchen furniture subject to same reservations as the moiety of slaves. All other property not reserved at the death of Lewis Gaar shall go & descend to Peggy Head during her natural life or widowhood. The property reserved to Catharine Gaar during life shall go to Peggy Head during her natural life or widowhood then to her children as joint & equal in fee simple with full power to Peggy to dispose of & distribute the whole or any part so no one of her children shall have more than proportional share. /s/ Lewis Gaar.
