pages 295-296     Mortgage: Oglethorpe Co., Ga.: 30 June 1824, Ruffin Curtis of Morgan Co., to Thomas Wade of same co. & John D. Wade of Clark Co., Ga., promissory note. Ruffin owes Thomas & John D. or bearer $1000 due 25 Dec. next. Ruffin’s security: tract in Morgan Co. on Sandy Creek waters, 101 1/4 acres, 1/2 of lot where Matthew Mayne lives, adj. Thomas Barton, John Praeter, Jerry Bogus, & Thomas Adkerson, with present crop growing of corn & cotton Ruffin has in cultivation about 40 or 50 acres in corn & about 12 acres of cotton. Also, 2 cows, a black & spotted one, 4 feather beds & furniture, & a black horse, bridle, & saddle about 7 years old. If paid on time with interest & appear at next Superior Court, 3rd Monday in Oct. next, & answer for offence he is charged & abide by the decision of court, then this to be void. /s/ Ruffin (x) Curtis.
