page 152     Mortgage: Morgan Co., Ga.: 29 Feb. 1826, Samuel Shearmon to Archibald Stewart. Stewart for Shearmond has become bound with Shearmon to Barton Thrasher of Clark Co. by five $25 notes, total $125. Security: 2 feather beds & furniture, 2 trunks, 2 tables, 9 sitting chairs, 2 spinning wheels, a real, pine stap, a dozen plates, 4 dishes, set of knives & forks, 2 brass candlesticks, sugar canister, book case, a dozen books, 3 water pails, 3 stone jars, 5 empty barrels, large pot, 2 small pots, oven, skillet, 2 pot racks, 2 tubs, 3 club axes, 2 plows, man’s saddle, sorrel mare supposed to be 8 years old, a brindle cow & calf, a white sow & 10 shoats, a shot gun, writing desk, & looking glass. Condition: If Shearman pays Thrasher $125 with interest & makes Stewart harmless this to be void, else to remain in full force. /s/ Saml. Shearmon. Wit: Creed M. Jennings, Joseph Morrow, J.P.
