By an act of the legislature, 25 Nov. 1824, to cause the Justices of the Inferior Court to lay off 3 lots in the commons of the town of Madison, Morgan Co., where the Methodist, Presbyterian, & Baptist persuasions have the right of building churches. Authorizing the Justices to lay off & convey to the Methodist, Presbyterian, & Baptist persuasions one acre for each on any part of the town commons in the control of the Justices. Convey to the trustees & their successors in office all title to a lot in the town of Madison, beg. cor. 50 feet S. 35 W. from cor. of Augustus Aldin’s lot, Aldin’s cor. on street leading to place owned by John Nisbet near the corporate limits of town, along street 3 ch. 81 links in direction of S. 35 W., 2 ch. 61 links in direction N. 55 W., 3 ch. 81 links directly contrary & parallel to course of S. 35 W., 2 ch. 61 links directly contrary & parallel to course N. 55 W. to cor., is one acre. In trust that they build thereon a house of worship for the use of members of the Methodist Episcopal Church & ministers of the church at their General Conference in the United States. /s/ Nathl.
