page 363     Affidavit: Morgan Co., Ga., United States of North America: 28 Nov. 1828, before William Stocks, J.P. for said co., appeared William Heard, planter, aged 52 years, & Thomas Lacy, planter, aged 40 years, residing in Morgan Co., duly sworn make oath & say on 31 Oct. last Richd. Louis Maquere /or Maguire/ died on his plantation in Morgan Co., aged 73 years & 6 months. They were well acquainted with decd. for several years understood he was born in the City of Haverdegrase, province of Normandy the Kingdom of France. He was a planter in the jurisdiction of Cap Francis in the Island of St. Domingo & came in this country with his wife on or about 1793 where he has always resided since. He has left by his first wife Marie Martha Renontleau who died in this state in 1810 three children born of his marriage to wit: Richard Louis Maquire, age 28 years, Virginia Maquire, age 24, & Adaline Maquire, age 22 years & from his second wife Juliann Bainbridge his widow 2 children Francis Juannah Maquire age 13 years, Louisa Juliah Maquire age 6 years, all of them now residing in Morgan Co. His five children are his lawful heirs, share & share alike. No public book of record is kept in this county to record the death of the citizens, but deaths are proven when necessary by affidavit in this form. /s/ William Heard, Thomas Lacey. Wit: Wm.
