page 399     Ga.: Writ of Fieri Facias issued from Superior Court of Morgan Co. at suit of John Walker against Thomas Gowdey. Reuben Mann, sheriff of afsd. co., seized property of Thomas Gowdey. 1 July 1828, exposed to public sale in Morgan Co. & John Walker was the highest bidder, for $1120, for 7 1/10 acres, adj. lands of McCartan now owned by Lancelot Johnston & lands of Saffold & others. And, all part of lot with a storehouse, back room, & cellar in the town of Madison, is part of Lot 16 on which the Masonic edifice now stands is 20 feet in front & extending back to street, adj. on front by public square, by side street, & other side by house & lot at present used by John Maguire as a grocery, in fee simple. /s/ Reuben Mann, shff.
