James Sims and his brother, Hartwell J. Sims, moved from Lafayette County, Mississippi, to Ashley County, Arkansas, in 1849. James and Hartwell Sims were the two youngest children of John Sims and Sarah Priddy. John Sims died in Maury County, Tennessee, 27 June 1827. Sarah Priddy Sims and her children moved to Lafayette County, Mississippi, in 1833. In 1851, James and Hartwell’s siblings, John Dabney Sims, Nicholas P. Sims, Mariah B. Sims, and Lucy P. Sims Brack moved from Lafayette County, Mississippi, to Ellis County, Texas.
James Sims lived in Ashley County, in 1850, 1860, and 1870.
