Dallas Morning News, 16 June 1897: Burial of Mrs. Sims. Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas, June 15. All the banks will be closed tomorrow in respect to Mrs. Nick Sims who died at Italy this morning. Mrs. Sims was one of the best known ladies in Ellis County, and was of a very prominent family. The funeral will take place from the residence of her son, O. E. Dunlap, at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon.
Eliza Harlan married first, 2 October 1827, Maury County, Tennessee, to Joseph Oliver Cross, born 22 September 1800, died 2 July 1839, Maury County, Tennessee. She married second, 5 February 1841, Greene County, Alabama, to William Tannehill, born circa 1810, died 29 January 1847, on the steamer Tuscaloosa, which left Mobile for Tuscaloosa. The boilers exploded on Black Warrior River and William Tannehill was killed.
Eliza married third, 16 November 1848, Noxubee County, Mississippi, to Samuel M. Dunlap, born 11 January 1798, South Carolina, died 8 February 1872, Ellis County, Texas, buried Waxahachie City Cemetery.
