83. Thomas Sims6Gillespie (Sarah5Sims, William4, Bruster3, Edward2, William1), was born 20 October 1828, Greene County, Tennessee, died 14 November 1888, Colfax County, New Mexico. He married 29 March 1853, Washington County, Tennessee, to Nancy M. Harvey. Her maiden name was Brown. Nancy M. Brown married 21 November 1845, Washington County, Tennessee, to Jacob F. K. S. Harvey. Nancy M. Gillespie was born 7 July 1826, died 13 February 1899. Thomas and Nancy are buried in Fairmont Cemetery, Raton, Colfax County, New Mexico.
Thomas lived in Washington County, Tennessee, in 1860 and 1870. He lived in Otero, Colfax County, New Mexico, in 1880. Thomas Gillespie was a cattle raiser. His sons, Jesse, George W., and Carter Gillespie were herding cattle. Thomas Gillespie had a broken ankle in 1880. George W. Gillespie was counted twice in the 1880 census. He was also cow herding in Chico for S. W. Dorsey.
Thomas S. Sims’s first cousin, Carrie McAlister Stout, also moved to Colfax County, New Mexico, as did Tennesse McAlister Codlin, his first cousin once removed, daughter of Samuel R. McAlister.
