N. P. Sims was also counted in the household of Oscar’s brother, Sam Dunlap, in 1900. Oscar and Ella lived on Main Street in Waxahachie in 1910 and 1920. Ella Dunlap lived in Waxahachie, Ellis County, in 1930.
Nicholas P. Sims was a first cousin of Mrs. Eliza Dunlap before their marriage. N. P. Sims was a first cousin once removed and also stepfather of Oscar and Samuel Dunlap. Nicholas P. Sims willed all his money to build the Nicholas P. Sims library in Waxahachie and he willed all his real estate to his stepsons, O. E. and S. M. Dunlap.

Dallas Morning News, 26 January 1929: Miss Orlean Dunlap dies at Waxahachie. January 25 – Miss Orlean Estelle Dunlap, daughter of the late Judge, and Mrs. O. E. Dunlap, died Friday afternoon at the family home here. Miss Dunlap was a member of the board of trustees of Sims Library, founded and bequeathed to the city by her [step] grandfather, Nicholas P. Sims. Her father was county judge of Ellis County and president of the Texas Bankers Association.
