Eugene Porter Harlan, age 50, died Friday afternoon at the home of his father, H. E. Harlan, about three miles northwest of Rogers, after a long illness. Interment was in the Oakley Chapel Cemetery. Besides his father, Mr. Harlan is survived by three brothers, W. M. Harlan, Arlington, Texas; and V. M. and J. K. Harlan of Rogers; four sisters, Mrs. H. Hamblett, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. B. Williams, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Earl Hardway, Tulsa; and Miss Jeanne Harlan, Rogers.

Dallas Morning News, 13 February 1957: Arlington, Texas – W. M. Harlan, 72, a salesman who had lived here for the last thirty years, died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital after a short illness. Harlan was a native of Alabama.
