He married circa 1868, Lafayette County, Mississippi, to Katie T. Smither, born December 1850, Lafayette County, Mississippi, died after the 1910 census of Comanche County, Texas, and before 1920.

Katie T. Smither was the daughter of William H. Smither, born 24 December 1808, Culpeper County, Virginia, died 11 January 1876, Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi, and Elizabeth Neill.[1842]

W. T. and K. T. Sims lived in Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi, in 1870 next door to his father, William B. Sims.[1843]

Wilson T. Sims’s grandfather, William Sims, was a brother of John Sims (father of John Dabney Sims). John Dabney Sims of Ellis County, Texas, was a first cousin of Wilson T.’s father, William B. Sims. In about 1879, Wilson T. Sims moved from Lafayette County, Mississippi, to Ellis County, Texas.

In the 1880 census, Wilson T. Sims lived in Ellis County, Texas, in the same neighborhood with his second cousin, W. D. Sims (Wilson Dabney Sims), and other Sims relatives.[1844] In 1900, Wilson T. Sims and his family lived in Navarro County, Texas.[1845]
