Both are members of pioneer Dallas families. They were married in 1888 at the home of the bride’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stellman on Airline Road a short distance south of the present Northwest Highway. Mr. Daniel is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Daniel who came to Texas from Pickens County, Alabama, in December 1849. Francis Daniel, his wife, and two elder sons, Edward and Wilton Daniel, settled at Farmers Branch where they lived for a year and then moved to the hill on which Dallas Hall of SMU now stands. They built a log house near Turtle Creek northwest of SMU and here Richard Allen Daniel was born 19 March 1865. Mrs. Daniel was Miss Margaret Ernestine Stellman. She came to Dallas from Owensboro, Kentucky, when she was eight years old. Mrs. Daniel attended Caruth’s Church and school and she and Mr. Daniel often met at community camp meetings at Cochran Chapel, Caruth Church, and the Plano church. At marriage they moved to a house seven miles south of Dallas near Beckley Road. They lived on Beckley Road until 1913 and then moved to Oak Cliff and resided since at 725 N. Windomere.
