Dallas Morning News, 1 October 1933: Ellis County couple have golden wedding. Italy – Mr. and Mrs. Eugene J. Dunaway, 50th wedding anniversary. Both Mr. and Mrs. Dunaway are natives of Ellis County. Mr. Dunaway, who has passed his 75th birthday, was born at Boz, a few miles west of Italy and is the oldest of the several brothers who have large landholdings and business interests. Mrs. Dunaway was born of a pioneer family and before her marriage she was Miss Amace Rogers, whose parents were among the first settlers of what is now Reagor Springs. They have three sons and a daughter, Mrs. Irene Wilson of Fort Worth; W. Hunt Dunaway, Italy; Sam Hoyle Dunaway, Italy; and E. J. Dunaway, Jr., Italy.
Dallas Morning News, 18 August 1949: Italy burial set today for Mrs. Dunaway. Italy, Texas – August 17. Mrs. E. J. Dunaway, 83, granddaughter of the founder of Waxahachie will be buried here Thursday. Services will be in the First Methodist Church. Mrs. Dunaway died Wednesday in a Fort Worth hospital. She had lived in Fort Worth for the past ten years with a daughter, Mrs. Irene Wilson. Born July 3, 1866 at Reagor Springs, three miles east of Waxahachie, Mrs. Dunaway was the granddaughter of Major E. W. and Nancy Rogers, founders of Waxahachie. Her father, the late W. T. Rogers, was an early-date hotel owner there. She was married to E. J. Dunaway, September 27, 1883, and they lived in Italy until his death in 1935. Other survivors are three sons, W. H. Dunaway and Hoyle Dunaway of Italy, and E. J. Dunaway, Jr. of Fort Worth, eight grandchildren, & seven great grandchildren.
