31. William5Sims (William4, Bruster3, Edward2, William1), was born 29 April 1783, Hanover County, Virginia, will made 1850, died 1851, Lafayette County, Mississippi. He married circa 1807, Maury County, Tennessee, to Elizabeth ——, born circa 1786, Virginia, died after 1851, Lafayette County, Mississippi.

William Sims lived in Maury County, Tennessee, in 1820.[232] In 1823, William Sims paid taxes in Capt. Hart’s District in Maury County, on 50 acres on West Fork, one white poll, and two black polls.

He lived in Maury County, in 1830.[233] William Sims moved from Maury County, Tennessee, to Lafayette County, Mississippi, about 1833.

On 1 May 1839, William Sims patented 160.14 acres in Lafayette County, Mississippi, in Section 9, Township 8 South, Range 4 West, Chickasaw Land District.[234]

William Sims lived in Lafayette County, Mississippi, in 1840[235] and 1850.[236] In 1850, in Lafayette County, William Sims had 16 slaves: 1 male, age 62; 1 male, age 20; 1 male, age 18; 1 male, age 13; 2 males, age 5; 2 males, age 3; 2 females, age 50; 1 female, age 35; 2 females, age 25; 1 female, age 16; 1 female, age 8; and 1 female, age 1.[237]
