Dallas Morning News, 21 January 1933: Italy girl seriously burned. Italy, Texas, January 20 – Miss Mary Lee Horn, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Horn, residing three miles west of Italy, was seriously burned when a gasoline iron she was using exploded. More than half her body was badly burned. No hope is held for her recovery.[3094]

Dallas Morning News, 27 January 1933: Horn – Italy, Texas, January 26 – Death Wednesday morning ended the suffering of Miss Mary Lee Horn, fatally burned by a gasoline explosion while using a gasoline iron in the family home last Friday. Miss Horn was 17 years of age, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Horn of the Derr’s Chapel Community, three miles west of Italy. She is survived by her parents and several brothers and sisters.[3095]
