    In Jones County, Georgia, March Term 1823, the Last Will and Testament of Henry Thompson, deceased, was produced in court, proven and ordered to be recorded. William Williams and William Harris qualified as executors. Appraisers – Robert Hutchings, Benjamin Buckner, Thomas Porch, David Shepherd, and Thomas Jefferson.60 The estate was appraised 6 March 1823. The land was appraised at $550.00. The total value was $3,429.75.61 Debts due the estate of Henry Thompson totaled $2,126.54, 5 May 1823, William Williams, exor.62
    Henry Thompson’s personal property was sold at Fortville, Jones County, Georgia, 5 April 1823. Fortville is on the Fortville-Milledgeville Road in the eastern part of Jones County, near the Baldwin County, line. Purchasers were Catlett J. Atkins, John Barnard, J. W. Gordon, John Hannon, William Harris, Mrs. Lucinda Howell, James Huey, John Hutcherson, James Mason, Aaron H. McFarlin, Richard C. Pattershall, Hugh Richbourg, Wm. N. Richbourg, George D. Stewart, Onay Ticknor, Wm. F. Williams, and A. B. Woodall. The sale included spectacles and a book case. William Williams bought Henry’s bible. The total value of the sale was $555.94 ¾ .63 Negro man Dick, negro boy Allen, and negro woman Crease were hired out. The land was rented for $80.00. John Hannon was paid for schooling. A. Woodall and M. Mathews were paid for board. Clothing was furnished for the orphans. Boarding was paid for Selatha Thompson, orphan by self, and for James Thompson, orphan by self.64
    The sale of Henry Thompson’s land and negroes was held 6 January 1824. Negro man Dick was sold to William Williams, negro boy Jerry was sold to David Lester, negro woman Crease was sold to James Woodall, and 101 ¼ acres of land was sold to Matthew Wright for $735.00. The total amount was $2,167.50.65
    In 1823, in Jones County, Georgia, Henry Thompson’s estate paid debts totaling $1,035.02 ¾ . Clothing was furnished for the orphans. Boarding was paid to Salatha Thompson, orphan, by self. Boarding was paid to James Thompson, by self. John Hannon was paid for schooling. A. Woodall and Micajah Matthews were paid for board.66
