| | Samuel first appeared in the tax list of Wilkes County, Georgia, in 1802 in District RR next to his father, Henry Thompson. He owned no land in 1802.102 Samuel came of age to pay taxes in 1802. In 1805 in Wilkes County, Samuel Thompson paid taxes in District II next to Wylie Saxon; Samuel owned no land.103
