| James and Mary lived in Heard County, Georgia, in 1840,135 1850,136 and 1860.137 Mary was the head of the family when the 1870 census was taken in Heard County. James is missing from that census.138 In 1880, James M. was age 75, widower, living in Heard County, with his son Zachary Taylor Thompson.139
