    There are no extant tax records for Wilkes County in 1788 and 1789. In 1790, Alexander Thompson paid taxes in Wilkes County, on 400 acres in Greene County, and no slaves.253 In 1791, Alexander Thompson paid taxes in Wilkes County, Ragan’s District DD, on 150 acres in Wilkes County, and no slaves.254
    In the 1795 Wilkes County, tax list for Captain James Turner’s Company, District MM, Spencer Thomas paid taxes on 275 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining Moses Stephens, land had been granted to Alexander Thompson and Thomas Adams. And, Isham Alford paid taxes on 225 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining Henry Thompson, land had been granted to Alexander Thompson and Aaron Leviston.255
    In the 1797 Wilkes County, tax list for Captain Hiram Howard’s Distirct RR, William Stephens paid taxes on 150 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining Isham Alford, land had been granted to Alexander Thompson. In the 1799 tax list in Captain John Bethune’s District RR in Wilkes County, Isham Meadows paid taxes on 125 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining Henry Thompson, land had been granted to Alexander Thompson. And, William Stephens paid taxes on 150 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining Ewing Morrow, land had been granted to Alexander Thompson.256
    In Wilkes County, in 1800, 1801, and 1802, in District RR, William Stephens paid taxes on 150 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining H. Thompson and John King, land had been granted to Alexander Thompson. In 1801, Spencer Thomas paid taxes on land adjoining Moses Stephens, granted to A. Thompson.257
    A Collector’s Sale was advertised in the Augusta Chronicle, 30 May 1795. Sale to be held on Tuesday the 30th of June next at the courthouse in Greene County, 400 acres in Greene County, and 150 acres in Wilkes County, taken under execution to satisfy the tax of Alexander Thompson 2/7.
