| On 26 July 1802 recorded in Warren County, Georgia, Henry Thompson and Jesse Lacy, J.P. witnessed a deed from John Saxton of Wilkes County, to Joseph Dunn, for $500, 147 acres, on Ogeechee, Pevey’s line, originally granted to Josiah Carter.39

Stephens, granted to Henry Thompson. In 1802, in the same district, Samuel Thompson paid taxes next to Henry Thompson. Samuel Thompson, one poll, no land. Samuel Thompson was Henry’s son; he came of age to pay taxes in 1802. Benjamin Rodes’s land on Lick Creek, adjoined Henry Thompson, granted to Thos. Scribner (Schroder). John Woodall’s land on Stephens Creek adjoined H. Thompson. David Wellborn’s land on Stephens Creek adjoined Henry Thompson. Wm. Stevens’s land on Stevens Creek adjoined H. Thompson, land granted to Alexander Thompson.40

| There are no extant tax returns in Wilkes County, for 1803. In 1804, in Captain William Gammage’s District II in Wilkes County, John Saxon paid taxes in Wilkes County, on 200 acres of third class land in Greene County, on Stephens Creek, adjoining H. Thomson, granted to Strother (Shroder).42 District II remained in Wilkes County, until 1835, when it was put into Taliaferro County, Georgia.
