have subscribed our names in the presence of John M. Hardeman at his special request and instance the 19 day of July A.D. 1889. Geo. W. Hamlett, J. C. Couch, T. M. Sowell. Codicil to the foregoing will, Ellis County, Texas: Whereas I, J. M. Hardeman of Ellis County, did some time in the year 1889 make sign and declare and publish my last will and testament which said will is now deposited in the clerks office in Waxahachie and whereas I am desirous of altering and changing said will as to a few items. Therefore I make and publish this my codicil to said will. Item 1st I desire and direct that the part of house hold furniture known as a dining table and bureau purchased by my last wife (now dec) with her own individual means for our personal use while we should live shall at my death be turned over to L. J. N. McCain daughter of my said wife. Item 2nd Whereas Peter Harris has died since the making of the above mentioned will I now therefore declare and appoint in his place and stead J. P. McCain.
