Fort Worth Star Telegram, 29 June 2010: Coleman Wolcott Sims (1921-2010). Coleman Wolcott Sims of Boerne, a retired U.S. Navy captain, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29 in Boerne. Capt. Sims was born April 18, 1921 in Waxahachie, son of Dr. William Pinkney Sims, Sr. and Almyra Louvenia Wolcott. Capt. Sims attended Texas A & M for one year and then graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1944. He was most proud of having served his country faithfully for thirty-three years. He met his wife of forty-six years, Josephine Johns, while in flight training in Corpus Christi. Capt. Sims was a student, a teacher, and secretary of the Naval War College. He also served as chief of staff of Manned Space Recovery Atlantic and commanding officer of Naval Air Station-New York. Upon retirement, Capt. Sims served the city of Boerne as mayor pro tem and as an alderman. He was proud of not only his service to his country, but also his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Survivors: daughter, Suzan Sims Hudgens and her husband Steve, of Fort Worth; son, Philip Johns Sims of Washington, D.C.; older brother and best friend, William Pinkney Sims, Jr. of Issaquah, Washington; and grandchildren, Adrienne, Andrew and his wife Emily, and Meredith Hudgens.[2580]
