In Maury County, Tennessee, 8 October 1849, John D. Sims, et ux Elizabeth C., of Lafayette County, Mississippi, sold to Thomas P. Ellett of Maury County, Tennessee, for $500, land in the 13th District, now to heirs of John P. Ellett, deceased, about 75 acres. On 6 January 1850, Joseph A. Bruce and ux Diza K., sold to Thomas P. Ellett, for $500, interest of Diza K. Bruce in tract of 75 acres in the 13th District belonging to the heirs of John P. Ellett.
John P. and Frances Elliott had eight children, but only four children survived to adulthood. The eldest child, Thomas P. Elliott, was born in 1802, died between 1850 and 1860, Maury County, Tennessee. Thomas married twice. He married 4 August 1829, Maury County, to Mary Murrell, and 25 December 1835, Maury County, to Susan Griffith. Thomas had one son, John H. Ellett, born 29 October 1834, died 1880, married Ophelia Kindel, born circa 1843, died 1880.
Elizabeth Coleman Elliott, who married John D. Sims, was the second child of John P. and Frances Elliott. James B. Elliott, probably born between 1805 and 1810, was another son of John P. and Frances Elliott. In 1845 in Lafayette County, Mississippi, John D. Sims was administrator of the estate of James B. Elliott, deceased. Also, John D. Sims vs. William Webb, guardian, concerning settlement of the estate.
The fourth child of John P. and Frances Elliott was Diza K. Elliott, born in 1818, Maury County, Tennessee, died 9 February 1882, buried Bethel Cemetery, Ellis County, Texas. Diza K. Elliott married 21 February 1846, Maury County, Tennessee, to Joseph A. Bruce, born circa 1816, North Carolina, died circa 1856, Maury County, Tennessee. Diza had three children, John J., Joseph T., and Sarah E. Bruce.
